What is Liguori Circle?
Liguori Circle is a time for Young Adults (age 18-30) and Redemptorists to come together to grow in faith and friendship through sharing God’s word, growing in their sense of mission in the community and in the world, and reflecting on the work of God’s grace and Redemption in their lives, and in the lives of the People of God.
Inspired by the Redemptorist founder, St. Alphonsus Liguori, these Circles are places of welcome, prayer, discussion, and fellowship.
Liguori Circle seeks to fulfill this mission through the “4 C’s”:
- Contemplation: Through input, discussion and prayer, we come to a better understanding of our faith journey and God’s work in our lives.
- Community: We build community amongst ourselves which nurtures and supports us on our journey of faith.
- Compassion: We seek out ways to personally reach out beyond our Circle so that our compassionate and Redeeming God may be made known through our service and action in our community and in our world.
- Conversion: Through Contemplation, Community, and Compassion, we deepen our relationship with Jesus and celebrate how grace works in our lives and moves us to action.
What happens at these gatherings?
The group gathers on a designated evening, within a Redemptorist community, once a month. There will be Prayer or Eucharist, followed by a presentation or talk on a topic or theme. Topics have included “Relationships”, “Faith vs. Religion”, “St. Alphonsus and his approach to Moral Theology and Ethics”, “Being Political and Being Catholic”, “St. Alphonsus and the Poor”, to name a few. These presentations are often creative and interactive and can lead to some lively discussions! The evening typically ends with a closing prayer followed by a social and time for fellowship.
Who comes to these gatherings?
Liguori Circle gatherings are open to any young adult who is interested in exploring different elements of his/her faith, and who desires to be part of a dynamic group of like-minded young adults.
